Spend a few days in our county and you'll understand why our citizens have a zest for life. Activities in the area are as varied as the four seasons we enjoy.
Walk through parks filled with young and old alike enjoying golf, basketball, baseball, volleyball and tennis. Swim in one of our area community pools. Enjoy free concerts in the park on warm summer nights or, when the snow flies, take a chance on the steep winding hills which provide excellent sledding.
Many people visit Saline County to take advantage of the bountiful hunting. Our farms and wildlife reserves are brimminng with deer, quail, wild turkey and waterfowl. The lakes and ponds in the area hold an abundance of largemouth bass, catfish and crappie.

In the spring of 1995, the citizens of Saline County came together to survey the interest in forming an area YMCA. By summer, a founders' campaign had been completed, raising nearly a quarter of a million dollars. By fall, the Salt Fork YMCA had been chartered. Although the YMCA was housed in a temporary facility, the new two-story building opened June 1, 1999. It boasts state-of-the-art amenities including an indoor, Olympic-sized lap pool, indoor track, children's gym and an aerobics area as well as other community rooms.
